Description
Mary Lodge is an early 19th century cottage built from sandstone ashlar, designed in a neo-Tudor style. It features a steeply pitched patterned roof with stone-coped gable ends and a low parapet. The cottage has a cross-shaped plan with four gabled ends and is a single storey. A projecting stone porch with a four-centred arch is attached to the south gable, which faces the entrance driveway to Stoneleigh Abbey. The windows are square-headed stone cross mullion/transom casements with diamond panes and drip moulds, and there are narrow slit openings at the apex of the gables. A central brick ridge chimney stack has been rebuilt on its original sandstone base.
