Description

These are two cottages forming a range, dating from around the 17th century and later encased in red brick during the 18th or early 19th century. The original timber framing is visible in the east gable and corner posts. The building sits on sandstone foundations and has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends, finished with a brick eaves cornice featuring decorative modillions. A brick string band runs between the ground and first floors.

The cottages are two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. The central doorway, serving No. 2, is modern. To the left and right of the door are windows: the left window is a three-light casement within a segmental arched opening with glazing bars; the right window has been altered to a square-headed design without glazing bars. The first floor has three square-headed casements, two of three-lights and a central two-light; the left window retains its glazing bars. A later brick lean-to has been attached to the east gable. A square brick chimney stack rises from the central ridge.
