Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a timber-framed cottage dating from the 17th century, which has been faced in red brick during the 19th century and extended to the west with a red brick cross-wing in the 20th century. The original part of the cottage is two storeys on the south side and one storey with an attic on the north side, while the modern addition is two storeys. The timber-framing is exposed on the west gable and inside the building. It features a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends and has an L-shaped plan.
On the south elevation of the older portion, there are segmental headed casements at the ground floor, consisting of two three-light windows and one one-light window. At the first floor, there are two three-light casements, all of which have glazing bars. The modern cross-wing slightly projects and includes metal French windows at the ground floor and a metal casement in a segmental headed opening at the first floor, both also with glazing bars. There is a brick chimney stack located at the angle between the two wings.
