Description
The lodge at the main entrance southwest of County Central Hospital was built in 1851, likely designed by the architect Harris, who also designed the County Mental Asylum. This two-storey structure is constructed of red brick with stone dressings in the Jacobean style and features a Welsh slate roof. It has shaped gables with finials and a stone panel above the entrance that displays a shield with the date 1853. The building is accented with stone quoins and has stone mullion windows that include four central arch lights and drip-moulds.
