Description
The Church of St Michael is a parish church located in Budbrooke. It dates from the 12th and 13th centuries and is constructed from sandstone, with 19th-century transepts. The nave features a blocked Norman north doorway that has one order of shafts and a billet hood mould, along with a Perpendicular south window. The chancel, built in the 13th century, includes north and south lancets, while the east window is Perpendicular and flanked by large buttresses. Originally, there was a south aisle. The 19th-century north and south transepts include a north transept dated 1838. The south porch is a rendered timber frame. The west tower, built in the 13th century, has three stages with Y-traceried bell openings in the first and second stages, battlements, and crocheted pinnacles. The ground stage features clasping buttresses. The east window contains stained glass from 1846 by Holland. Inside, there is a monument to Rouland, Baron Dormer of Wing, from 1712, which has an open segmental pediment and pilasters with an inscription, angels trumpets, an urn, and drapery below.
