Description

Arden Cottage is an early 18th-century red brick cottage, incorporating a circa 17th or earlier timber-framed core. It is located on Hatton Green, in Hatton. The original timber frame is visible, and the building has a plain tile roof with gabled ends and exposed timber framing. A decorative brick dentil eaves cornice is present. The front facade has two windows on each floor. The ground floor windows are small, three-light casements with glazing bars set within segmental-headed openings. The original left-hand doorway has been replaced by a window. A central plank door is protected by a 19th or 20th-century brick porch. A mid-19th-century brick wing extends to the right (north), featuring two storeys and one window. Arden Cottage adjoins to the left (south) and is a circa early 19th-century red brick structure of two storeys and one window. It has small casement windows and a plank door, all beneath a lower plain tile roof.
