Description
Gardener's Cottages is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is timber framed and mostly faced in brick, featuring a plain tile roof with gabled ends. The building consists of three bays, with gables on the left and right that display timber framing. In the center, there is ashlar stonework, and the gable rises to a large brick chimney stack with diagonal shafts. To the left of the chimney breast, there is a doorway with a moulded cambered arch, leading to an inner doorway with a Tudor arch and a circa 17th century oak plank door. The windows are three-light casements with diamond panes. At the rear, there is a late 19th century red brick wing. Inside, the central room features a wide fireplace with a timber bressummer that has a moulded cornice, and the ceiling has stopped and chamfered beams.
