Description
Yew Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1710, constructed from squared coursed limestone with quoins. It features a stone-slate roof with coped gables and renewed stone end stacks, and has an L-shaped plan. The building is two stories high and has a three-window range on the front, consisting of two-light and three-light mullioned windows on the ground floor, and two-light and a central four-light mullioned windows on the first floor, all with hood moulds and labels. There is a 20th-century panelled door to the center left, which has an original flat arch lintel and a hood supported on consoles. Additional two- and three-light mullioned windows extend from the rear left and are present in the right gable end. A 20th-century stone extension is located at the rear. In the right gable of the 18th-century range, there is a datestone with a moulded hood inscribed 'John Timmes/Anno Domini/1710'.
Inside, the ground floor features a small fireplace with a four-centred head and a moulded surround, which has an inscription on the lintel: 'Timmes/John 1710 Elizabeth'. There is a similar fireplace on the first floor inscribed 'John Timmes/1710', and another inscribed 'William Timmes'. The ground floor also has a large open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. Both floors have chamfered spine beams, with one beam featuring an ovolo mould. An early 18th-century open-well staircase leads to the attics and has turned balusters. The floors are stone flagged.
