Description
Rose Cottage, possibly formerly two cottages, dates from the early to mid-18th century and consists of two builds. The cottage is constructed of regularly coursed limestone and features a concrete tile roof with brick end stacks. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. There is a blocked doorway, and the windows are leaded light casements, two of which are from the 20th century. The openings have painted wood lintels. The left section of the cottage is slightly lower and includes a gabled half-dormer. The entrance at the rear has an old plank door, and there are old leaded casements, one of which retains its original shutter.
Attached to the cottage is an outbuilding that was formerly separate, featuring a datestone with the monogram EP from 1759. This outbuilding is made of ironstone ashlar and has a tile roof, with late 20th-century garage doors and windows. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage and outbuilding are included for their group value.
