Description

Rose Cottage is a cottage built in the mid-18th century, with some additions from the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble gritstone and features quoins, plain gables, ashlar end ridge stacks, and a stone slate roof. The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows on the upper floor are two-light flush mullioned windows, while the ground floor of the east end bay has a single light opening with a flush stone frame. The cottage has 19th-century glazing bar casements. There is an off-centre doorway with a massive stone frame, leading to a four-panelled door where the upper two panels are glazed. A 19th-century gabled canopy supported by carved wooden brackets is above the door. At the rear, there is a 20th-century extension. The front boundary wall is made up of vertically set flagstones.
