Description
Rectory Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of regular coursed limestone with quoins and features a simple splayed cornice. The rear is made of whitewashed brick and has a brick dentil cornice. The roof is covered with old tiles and has brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge. The building has an L-plan shape, with a short wing at the rear. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range, with a central old plank door and mid-20th century casements. All openings have painted wood lintels.
To the left, there is a 19th-century outbuilding extension that has a corrugated asbestos roof. This extension is also two storeys but is lower than the main house and features a two-window range, mid-20th century garage doors on the left, an old plank door, and fixed light windows on the first floor, all with painted wood lintels. Inside, there are remains of an open fireplace and exposed ceiling beams. The building is included for its group value.
