Description

This is a cast-iron milepost, likely erected around 1818. It features a cylindrical-fluted base topped by a tall, fluted cast-iron shaft that has decorative bud-like forms in the lower section. The shaft is adorned with wrought-iron scrollwork arms that include simple acanthus leaf embellishments. These arms hold a wooden place name board from the early 21st century, as the original board is no longer present. At the top of the shaft, there is additional decorative work in the form of acanthus leaves.
