Description
42 High Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the 17th century and was refaced in the 18th century or early 19th century. The exterior features regular coursed lias stone with a wooden eaves cove and a tiled roof topped with a brick ridge stack. The building has a double depth plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a one-window range. The entrance includes a half-glazed door with an overlight set in a simple moulded wood frame. The ground floor features a canted bay and 19th-century casements with glazing bars. Above, there is a hipped roof dormer with a two-light casement. The rear of the building is noted to be of brick. Inside, there are heavy ceiling beams. Although it is said to be timber framed, no evidence of this was observed during the last survey.
