Description

These houses, now shops, were built in the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed of colourwashed brick. Numbers 33 and 35 feature a moulded cornice with paired Ionic modillions, while number 37 has a moulded brick cornice. The roof is slate-covered and includes a brick stack. The building has a double-depth plan, extending over two floors, and is three storeys high with a four-window facade, one of which is blind. Late 20th-century shop fronts have been added. The windows are sash windows. On the first floor, numbers 33 and 37 have 16-pane sashes with painted wood lintels. Number 33 has a blind window with a gauged brick flat arch, and number 37 has gauged brick flat arches over two blocked windows. Number 35 has a late 19th-century canted bay window. The interior was not inspected. The cornice is the same as, and continues the cornice of the neighbouring number 31. The buildings are included on the list for their contribution to the group value of the street.
