Description
This is a house, later used as a bank and dwelling, dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries (according to historical records), with significant alterations and a new facade added in the mid to late 19th century. It is timber-framed with brick and plaster infill on the front, and has a plastered front. The roofs are slate, with tile roofs at the rear, and brick stacks. The building is in an L-shape. It has three storeys and a three-window front. The ground floor has modern doors, windows, and brickwork. The upper floors feature six-pane sash windows on the first floor, set within rusticated rendered flat arches with keyblocks. The left return side, beneath a carriage arch, displays exposed close studding. At the rear is a gabled timber-framed wing with close studding and heavy diagonal bracing, with a whitewashed brick underbuild. There is another 17th-century timber-framed wing with brick infill, with the end portion rebuilt in the 19th or 20th century, and featuring 19th and 20th-century casement windows. The interior reveals exposed timber framing, along with chamfered and moulded ceiling beams. A full inspection of the interior was not possible, but it is said to contain an open fireplace.
