Description
No. 10 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of whitewashed brick, featuring brick string courses and a deep plaster eaves cove. The roof is tiled, and there are no visible chimneys. The building has a double-depth plan, with two storeys and an attic, and a two-window range. The shop front was added in the late 20th century, while a plank door leads to a rear passage. On the first floor, there are two cross windows with glazing bars and gauged brick flat arches. The two dormers have wood and iron casements, also with glazing bars. Inside, the passage walls reveal exposed timber framing, and there are chamfered ceiling beams and winder stairs. It is possible that this building was originally part of a single structure with No. 8 High Street.
