Description
The Turk's Head Crafts is an inn that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 17th century but was re-fronted and heightened in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of whitewashed brick, with the ground floor rendered. It features a slate roof with boxed eaves and two brick ridge stacks, and has an L-shaped plan. The structure is three storeys high with a two-window range. The entrance consists of a four-panelled door with an overlight and simple wood pilasters. The ground floor has canted bays, with the left bay containing paired sash windows that abut the wall on the left side. The entire facade has a flat roof. The upper floors are adorned with four-pane sash windows set under rendered stone flat arches, which have rusticated voussoirs and keyblocks. At the rear, the building is made of red brick. Inside, there are broad chamfered ceiling beams and some exposed framing, with a room at the rear featuring an open fireplace. The building also includes an early 19th-century straight flight staircase. A wrought iron scrollwork inn sign bracket with a late 20th-century sign is attached to the exterior.
