Description

11, 11A and 13 High Street are houses that have been converted into shops and dwellings. They date from the early 17th century, with a front range added in the early 19th century. The buildings are timber framed with whitewashed brick infill, while the front range is made of red brick and features a wood modillion cornice. The roof is covered with pantiles and has a parapet and gable parapets, with concrete tiles on the rear. There are brick stacks, and the layout is L-shaped. The buildings are three storeys high and have a three-window range.

The central entrances are paired, with six-panelled doors; No.11 has a half-glazed door with overlights and simple wood pilasters. No.11 features a late 19th-century canted bay with some decorative leaded glazing, while No.11A has a late 19th-century canted shop bay. A fascia runs across the entire facade, with a single flat roof over the bays. There is an opening on the left leading to Bull's Head Yard. The upper floors have sash windows, with 16-pane windows on the first floor, all featuring gauged brick flat arches.

At the rear, there is a small two-storey range with a jowled post and curved brace, and a long wing that includes some diagonal braces. The end wall was rebuilt in 19th-century red brick. There is a six-panelled door with a hood supported by shaped brackets. The buildings contain 19th and 20th-century sashes and casements. The 17th-century stack has three square shafts with V-shaped pilasters. Inside, there are exposed framing and ceiling beams, with some beams boxed. The room at the rear of No.11 has an open fireplace and stepped stop-chamfered ceiling beams. Most of the rear wing now forms No.13 High Street.
