Description
20 and 21 Church Street is a house that was originally two separate homes, dating back to the early 17th century, with the ground floor extended in the 18th century. The building features a timber frame with small framing that has been renewed, and decorative panelling in the gables, which are filled with plaster. The ground floor is made of colour-washed brick and has a lean-to roof. The roofs are tiled, and there are brick stacks present. The house is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys plus an attic, with twin gables and a two-window range.
There are central entrances: on the left, there is a six-panelled door with two glazed panels, and on the right, a five-panelled door, both with moulded wood surrounds. The windows are casements, and there is an oriel window on the right side of the ground floor. A small brick stack is located in the right corner. At the rear, there is a rendered gabled wing and a timber-framed wing with jowled posts and brick infill that adjoins it. A massive rendered stack features three square brick shafts from the 17th century, adorned with V-shaped pilaster strips. The interior has not been inspected.
