Description

The Dene is a house dating from the 17th and early 18th centuries, with an early 19th-century addition on the left side. The house is constructed of regular coursed ironstone. The right-hand range has a thatched roof with coped gable parapets, while the left range has a slate roof. Stone ridge and end stacks have string courses and cornices. The building originally comprised two units, later extended to three. It has two storeys, a basement, and an attic, and features a four-window front. The entrance, located in the corner of the left range, has a recessed, flush four-panelled door topped with an overlight set beneath a thatched hood. Steps lead to the entrance. The left range incorporates 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, and an additional window has been inserted on the first floor. The right range has a two-light chamfered mullioned basement window with a hood mould on the right side. It also features 18th-century leaded casements: three-light windows on the ground floor and two-light windows above. Painted wood lintels are present throughout. The right return side showcases two-light mullioned windows with hood moulds. The interior was not inspected.
