Description

This is a semi-detached cottage, originally two separate dwellings, located in School Lane, Warmington. The left range was built in the early to mid-18th century, while the right range dates from the early 19th century. The left range is constructed of regular coursed ironstone with a thatched roof. The right range is of finer quality, using almost ashlar regular coursed ironstone with a slate roof. A brick stack sits between the two ranges. The cottage has a 4-unit plan and two storeys with an attic, presenting a 3-window facade. The entrance to the right range is situated in the left corner, featuring a recessed, part-glazed 20th-century door and a thatched hood. A small window is positioned to the right of the entrance, under the same lintel. The windows throughout are leaded casements in painted wooden lintels, with the left range’s roof sweep descending lower on the left side of the window. The left return side reveals a former stone mullioned window, now containing a 20th-century casement, on the first floor, and a chamfered stone attic light. The interior remains uninspected.
