Description
Carpenters Cottage is a house that is part of a row, built in 1651 with 20th-century alterations. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The internal stack is made of ashlar, while the right end stacks have brick shafts. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. The central entrance has a part-glazed door with a hood mould above it. On the right side, there is a square projection that may have been used for a bread oven. The windows are chamfered stone mullioned with leaded lights, consisting of a two-light window to the right and above the door, and a three-light window to the left. The first floor has two 20th-century windows with glazing bars. At the rear, there is an old three-light leaded casement window. A datestone features a moulded sunk panel and cornice. The interior has not been inspected, but one first-floor room extends into Sunny Cottage.
