Description
Holly Cottage is a cottage that was formerly two separate cottages, built in 1675, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone and has a slate roof with a brick ridge stack. The building features a four-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic.
The left side of the cottage has a two-window range with stone-mullioned windows that include a four-light window on the ground floor, although the mullions have been removed on the right side, and a three-light window on the first floor. The right side has a two-window range that includes a late 20th-century half-glazed door and an open porch, with flanking windows that have painted wood lintels and late 20th-century casements.
On the left return side, there are three-light mullioned windows and an early 19th-century attic casement. Inside, the cottage features two stepped-stop broad-chamfered beams, one of which is dated 1675, and a stone open fireplace.
