Description
No. 202 and No. 203 on Village Street are two houses dating from the 17th century, with early 19th-century alterations and additions. They feature a timber-frame structure with painted brick infill on a rubble plinth to the left, while the right side is entirely of painted brick. The house has a hipped thatch roof on the left and a renewed tile roof on the right, with brick stacks at each end. The layout consists of three units, with a single-unit brick addition at each end.
The exterior is a single storey plus an attic, displaying a five-window range with square framing. The entrance is located to the left of the center, and there is a segmental-headed entrance at the right end, both fitted with 20th-century doors. The left end features a high window with a two-light casement, while the right end has two windows with three-light casements and an eyebrow dormer with a two-light casement, all of which have small panes. The right addition includes a segmental-headed window with a three-light small-pane casement and a gabled dormer with a similar two-light casement. The left return has an addition with a small window at the front, and the rear has a 20th-century flat-roofed addition. The interior has not been inspected.
