Description
No. 209 on Village Street is a house that now includes an office. It dates from the 17th century and has undergone later restorations and a 20th-century extension. The building features a timber frame with painted brick infill and painted brick on the sides, topped with a thatched roof that has a brick cross-axial stack and end stacks. It has a three-unit plan.
The exterior consists of a single storey plus an attic and has a four-window range. There is a segmental-headed entrance at the right end made of brick, which features a plank door. The central canted bay window has a hipped tile roof and is adorned with small-paned glazing. Flanking this are segmental-headed windows with two-light small-paned casements and a nine-pane casement. There is also a very small segmental-headed window at the right end. The roof is gabled and includes two raking dormers with two-light small-paned casements. The returns and rear of the building are brick, with a rear catslide outshut. The interior has not been inspected.
