Description
Cold Comfort Farm's cowhouse, located approximately 20 metres south-east of the farmhouse, dates from the late 16th to 17th century. It is a timber-framed structure featuring close studding with a middle rail and brick infill, topped with a tiled roof. The cowhouse consists of three bays and includes two stable doors and a hay loft door facing the yard. The gables are weatherboarded, and the rear has a single hay loft door. Inside, there is a queen post roof with diagonal braces to the tie beams and curved wind braces. Attached to the left is a single-storey building from the 17th or early 18th century, constructed with square framing and brick infill, which has a carriage door at the end. To the right, there is a 19th-century brick addition that features a stable door, two windows, and an external staircase at the end.
