Description
School Cottage, Vine Cottage, and No. 13 are a row of three cottages that were not built at the same time. The cottages date from the 17th century, with 18th century or early 19th century refronting, and No. 13 possibly has a mid-19th century front. They are constructed of brick with a tile roof, featuring brick ridge and end chimneys. Vine Cottage has a simple brick cornice. The layout of Vine Cottage consists of three units, while the others have two units, with wings extending to the rear. The cottages are one storey high with an attic, which includes seven dormers. There are three 20th century doors and one 19th century plank door leading to a passage at the rear. Vine Cottage mainly features late 18th century or early 19th century casements and original dormers, while the other cottages have mid-20th century casements and dormers. The doors and windows are set under segmental arched heads. Both Vine and School Cottages have door hoods supported by shaped brackets. Inside, School Cottage displays some exposed timber framing and a broad-chamfered ceiling beam, while No. 13 is said to have an inglenook fireplace.
