Description

Oversley Mill House is a 17th-century house that features a timber frame with lath and plaster infill. It has a late 20th-century tile roof and a 20th-century brick external stack on the right end wall. The building is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys plus an attic, with a three-window range and an entrance located in the rear wing. The windows show irregular spacing, with two 20th-century casements on the ground floor and 19th-century casements with glazing bars on the first floor. The exposed framing is visible throughout the house, with jowled posts on the left and right end walls. The right end wall is underbuilt and plastered on the ground floor. The rear wing features an entrance with an early 19th-century six-panelled door and a late 20th-century porch. To the left, there are three old leaded-light casements, along with a 19th-century casement on the first floor. The right side has a one-storey and attic one-window range, with a single-storey range extending beyond it. The left return side includes two casements with Gothick glazing. Inside, the house has exposed framing, chamfered ceiling beams, and two open fireplaces—one of which has been reduced—featuring chamfered bressumers. There is a quarter turn staircase with 18th-century turned balusters, along with old three-plank, two-panelled, and six-panelled doors.
