Description

This building, located at 1 Sheep Street and Wyntors Furnishers at 23 High Street in Shipston on Stour, dates back to 1703. It is constructed of whitewashed brick in Flemish bond, featuring stone quoins and a rendered plinth. The façade includes a plain storey band and a moulded eaves cornice, topped with a stone-coped gable on the right. The roof is tiled with brick end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range, following a two-unit plan.

At the center, there is a six-panelled door with an overlight set within a brick arch. To the left, there is a small early 19th-century canted bay with a 12-pane sash window at the front and a moulded cornice. To the right, a larger early 19th-century canted bay features a 16-pane sash window at the front, flanked by 12-pane sashes and a bracketed hood. On the first floor, there are cross casements on the left and right, with two single lights featuring transoms and original leaded glazing in the center. A cartouche moulded datestone inscribed '1703' is located between the windows.

Part of the same building is a shop, also dated 1703, which shares the same whitewashed brick construction and moulded eaves cornices. The shop has a hipped tile roof on the right, with a stone-coped gable on the left and brick ridge and end stacks. It is two storeys plus an attic and has a three-window range. The ground floor features a 19th-century glazed door within canted bays that extend around the corner, topped with a hood. The first floor has cross casements on the left and right, with two lights between them, transoms, and original leaded glazing. The center of the first floor displays a moulded datestone inscribed 'IP/1703'. On the right end, there is another cross casement with a single light to the right, also with a transom and original leaded glazing. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
