Description

This building, known as Sheldon Bosley and Partners, Abbey National, is a Grade II listed office that was originally a house, dated 1700. It is constructed from squared, coursed limestone and features a stone slate roof with a brick end stack. The building has two storeys and a T-shaped plan, with a three-window range.

On the left side, there is a passageway with a wooden lintel. The ground floor includes a 19th-century two-light casement window with a wooden lintel in a later extension above it. The central entrance features a 20th-century glazed door, with a 20th-century window immediately to the right and a 20th-century glazed canted bay to the left. To the right on the ground floor, there is an 18th-century twelve-pane sash window. The first floor has a 19th-century two-light casement window in the center and another to the right, which has been altered in the 20th century. The center left of the first floor features a moulded datestone inscribed in bas-relief with 'B/BM/1700', and to the right, there is a lead 'Britannia' firemark.

At the rear, there is a two-storey stone range with a stone base for the stack that has three flue bases set diagonally. The first floor gable end includes a three-light mullioned window and a hood mould with label stops. Inside, the building features chamfered spine beams with stepped stops, two large open fireplaces—one with a timber bressumer with run-out stops and the other with a chamfered bressumer with stepped stops, along with a large chimney breast on the first floor.
