Description

Prospect House, located in Clifford Chambers, is a building that dates from the early 19th century or earlier. Originally two houses, it has been converted into one dwelling. The structure is made of red brick laid in Flemish bond and features a tiled roof, which is steeper on the former No. 49, along with brick end stacks.

The exterior consists of two storeys and a three- plus two-window arrangement, with attached garages on both the left and right sides. A top brick cornice runs along the building. The entrance, positioned to the right of the centre, features a doorcase with faceted panels, a frieze, and a cornice, leading to a half-glazed door. To the left end, there is a two-storey bay window with cornices above horned sashes arranged in a pattern of 1/1:2/2:1/1. The windows flanking the entrance have sills and rusticated wedge lintels with keys above horned sashes arranged in a pattern of 2/2 and 1/1:2/2:1/1. The first floor windows also have similar sashes. An external stack has been added to the left end, and there is a two-bay garage with paired plank doors.

The right side of the building, which was formerly No. 49, has a top modillioned brick cornice. The central entrance here is now blocked and features a gabled canopy. The windows on this side are small-paned casements with segmental heads on the ground floor. A small 20th-century garage is located at the right end. The building is attached to No. 50. The interior has not been inspected.
