Description

Nos. 24, 26, and 27 are a row of four cottages located in Clifford Chambers, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The left part of the row features timber framing with painted brick infill, along with a brick addition at the left end. The right part is constructed of painted brick. The cottages have a steeply pitched tile roof, which has been renewed for the former No. 25, and includes a brick chimney stack at the front of the ridge and another at the rear. The gable faces the front to the right.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a six-window range. Nos. 24 and 26, located in the centre, are double-fronted. The entrance to No. 24 features a 20th-century split door, while No. 26 has a segmental-headed entrance with a battened door. The windows on the three-window timber-framed range have two-light leaded casements, with one single-light window on the ground floor and iron opening casements on the first floor. The brick range has segmental-headed windows on the ground floor with two-light small-paned casements; the window at the end, for No. 27, is a later addition. The first floor has two windows with two-light leaded casements and iron opening casements, along with one window featuring a 20th-century casement at the right end.

At the rear, there is an entrance to No. 27 and two brick gabled wings, with a small gabled addition on the left return. The row faces a small square off the main street.
