Description

The war memorial, located at the north-west corner of the churchyard of the Church of St Helen in Clifford Chambers, was erected around 1920. It is made of ashlar stone and is set into the angle of the churchyard wall. The memorial features a plain plinth that rests on three two-sided steps, which are inscribed with the names of those commemorated. Atop the plinth is a cross with a base supported by four console brackets. The cross has an octagonal shaft that displays bracketed and canopied figures of St George and the dragon. The head of the cross features a crucifix, flanked by bracketed figures of St Mary and St John, with a shield positioned below.
