Description
This cottage, located approximately 40 metres west of Dorsington Manor House, dates from the late 17th century with a 19th-century addition. It features a timber frame on a brick plinth, with 19th-century brick infill and a brick addition. The roof is tiled and includes decorative fishscale bands, along with a brick end stack. The building has a single-unit plan and is a single storey with an attic.
The south elevation, exposed in 1991 after the removal of a 20th-century garage, showcases square framing that is three panels high and large tension braces, along with carpenters' marks. The right side has similar framing, a blocked entrance, and three boarded windows, which were recorded as having 20th-century two-light small-paned casements. The rear features a 19th-century catslide outshut that extends to the left return, where there is a small single-storey wing.
Inside, the cottage is noted for having a stop-chamfered beam and a two-bay butt-purlin roof.
