Description

Braggington House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, with some alterations and restorations made in the 20th century. The building includes a converted 19th-century outbuilding. It features a timber frame with plastered infill set on a rubble plinth, topped with a tile roof and squat rubble stacks, one at the front and one at the rear of the ridge. The layout consists of a three-unit plan, with a cross-wing on the right and a lower outbuilding on the left.

On the exterior, the entrance is located to the right of the center and includes a 20th-century gabled rubble porch with a wide-boarded inner door. The left end has one blocked two-light window on each floor, while the other windows feature 20th-century leaded casements, including three-light casements on each floor to the left of center and a two-light casement above the entrance. The wing has a blocked entrance on the left return and a hipped bay window with a 1:3:1-light configuration. The first floor has a three-light casement window and a two-light casement in the attic. The right return has a plastered brick catslide outshut, and the left return has two-light casements along with an attached converted range that features a modillioned brick cornice over applied timber-framing, an entrance, and three 20th-century gabled dormers. The ground floor has close-studded timber-framing with square framing above. The rear includes a French window at the left end and two lean-to brick outshuts, as well as a large 20th-century gabled dormer.

Inside, the house is noted for having ashlar fireplaces and is reported to have a pigeon loft. The property is situated on a moated site.
