Description
Pillory Green Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse with alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of regular coursed ironstone, with the right return side rendered to imitate ashlar. The roof is tiled, and it has a left-hand end stack, partially of old bricks, and a ridge stack with late 20th century brick tops. The building follows a four-unit plan and is two storeys high, with a five-window front. The central doorway has a moulded six-panelled door set beneath a segmental arch. A 19th-century open-fronted limestone porch with a basket arch stands in front of the door. The house has a coped gable parapet with kneelers. Most of the three-light casement windows have glazing bars, with the first-floor windows being smaller. A single-light window is above the porch. Windows on the left side have painted wood lintels, while ground-floor windows on the right have stone segmental arches. The rear of the building is irregular. Inside, the room on the right has an open fireplace with a moulded cornice and a mid-19th century moulded wood fireplace with corner roundels, along with a 20th-century fireplace. The kitchen has exposed ceiling beams. The room on the left contains an open fireplace with inserted 20th-century fireplace, and a bacon cupboard with a grille door on the left. A straight staircase with winders is located between walls.
