Description

Home Farm House is a farmhouse, now a house, with a complex building history spanning the 17th and 19th centuries. The rear section of the house dates to the 17th and 18th centuries, likely extended in the late 18th century, while the front range was built around 1830. The house is constructed of regular coursed limestone, with the front facade being Flemish bond red brick with limestone quoins, a string course, moulded cornice, and a parapet. The slate roofs have coped gable parapets, and there are brick end stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with a wing to the rear.

The front of the house is two storeys high, while the rear section is two storeys high with an attic. It has a three-window front, exhibiting symmetrical design. The entrance features a moulded fielded six-panelled door with an overlight containing decorative glazing, and a panelled intrados. A fine Roman Doric moulded wooden doorcase, with pilasters, frames the door. The 19th-century 12-paned sash windows have painted stone rusticated flat arches with keystones. The rear of the house is irregular in appearance. Internally, a mahogany straight flight staircase with a shaped string and moulded handrail is of note.
