Description
This cottage, located on the southwest corner of Godsons Lane, dates from the mid-18th century. It is built from regularly coursed ironstone, with four courses of mid-20th century brick below the eaves. The roof is made of corrugated iron, which replaced the original thatch, and there is a brick stack at the right end. The cottage has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window range. The entrance is located in the right return corner and features a 19th-century plank door. The windows are 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, and the ground floor has painted wood lintels. The right return side has a gable that has been patched with 19th and 20th-century brick. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a bressumer that has a moulded shelf, a stepped stop-chamfered ceiling beam, and plank doors.
