Description
Tarrants is a house that is part of a row, dating from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century and late 20th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone and features a mid-20th century tile roof with a brick end stack. The house has a three-unit plan and is two storeys high, with a three-window range. An elaborate panelled door is located between the second and third bays, accompanied by a late 20th century open timber porch. The windows are late 19th century two-light casements with glazing bars, and there is a late 20th century bow window on the left. Wood lintels are present, and there is a small single-storey range on the left side.
Inside, the first floor showcases exposed tie beams, some of which have carpenter's marks. One tie beam features two chamfered basket arch doorways, with one now blocked. The roof structure includes queen strut roof trusses with through purlins and lath and plaster infill. Notably, the left part of the house was formerly a bakery.
