Description
The Weir is a house, likely originally three cottages, dating from the early 18th century and altered in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a concrete tile roof with brick end stacks. The building is L-shaped, with a wing on the right extending to the rear. It stands two stories tall and has a two-window range. The central entrance is a late 20th-century door, flanked by mid to late 20th-century three-light casements. Wood lintels are present throughout the building. The left side of the wing has 20th-century casements, while the rear is irregular in shape.
Inside, the property features ogee stop-chamfered ceiling beams. The room on the right contains an open fireplace with an ogee stop-chamfered bressumer, while the room on the left has an open fireplace with a simply-moulded wood frame and a 20th-century grate, along with a built-in cupboard that has panelled doors and H-hinges. There is also a winder staircase with a plank door to the right. The room at the rear includes another open fireplace with an ogee stop-chamfered bressumer.
