Description
Slate House is a mid-17th century house constructed of squared coursed limestone, featuring quoins and coped gables. It has a stone-slate roof with a stone ridge stack and a two-unit plan. The building stands two storeys plus an attic and has a two-window range of 17th century three-light mullioned windows, along with two-light mullioned windows in full gabled dormers. There are additional two- and three-light mullioned windows on the left gable end. A six-panelled door is located in a 20th century lean-to porch at the rear, which is adjacent to a stair-turret range. Also at the rear, there is a 20th century two-storey stone range and 20th century mullioned windows. A moulded datestone in the apex of the left gable end is now illegible. Inside, the house features chamfered spine beams and joists, as well as two large open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers.
