Description
Butlers House is a house dated 1663, located on Butlers Road in Long Compton. It is constructed of fine squared coursed limestone with quoins and features a 20th-century tile roof that has a moulded stone ridge and end stacks. The house has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys plus an attic. The front has a three-window range with 3- and 4-light mullioned windows that include hood moulds and labels. There is a six-panelled door set within a 19th-century stone gabled porch positioned to the centre-right. A moulded datestone on the first floor, to the right, is inscribed in bas-relief with 'IS/1663'. The house also has three 20th-century gabled dormers. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
