Description

West Hillborough Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, with later 19th-century rebuilding. It is located in Temple Grafton, Warwickshire. The farmhouse is constructed of regular coursed blue lias rubble, with brick to the right end and rear. It has steeply pitched tile roofs, a brick end stack, and a stone ridge stack with diagonally set brick shafts. The building has an L-shaped plan, with a two-storey gabled porch.

The front elevation has three windows and includes a gabled wing to the left and a porch wing, alongside a single-storey extension to the right. The left wing features moulded timber bargeboards and an entrance with plank door. The porch has a front entrance and a partly blocked Tudor-headed entrance on its return. An inner entrance has an ovolo-moulded frame, lower stops, and a wide-boarded door with strap hinges, leading to the return of the wing. Stone windows with ovolo-mullions are present, with a partly blocked four-light window on the ground floor, a three-light window on the first floor, and a top two-light double-chamfered mullioned window to the left wing. A similar blocked window is located to the left of centre, beneath a deep pentice, with a datestone above. Segmental-headed windows to the porch and right end have casements. The single-storey wing has two entrances, one segmental-headed, and one with a frame similar to the main entrance, flanked by a segmental-headed window with a small-paned casement. The rear elevation has a segmental-headed entrance with an overlight to the left of centre, as well as similar casement windows.

Internally, there are some chamfered beams and a large fireplace to the left end, with a timber bressumer. Panelled cupboards are located to the right.
