Description
Cranhill is a farmhouse built around 1820, as shown on the 1831 Ordnance Survey map. It is constructed from coursed dressed stone and features a hipped roof covered with renewed tiles, along with a brick stack positioned along the cross-axis. The building is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys with a two-window range.
The exterior includes segmental-headed windows on both floors, which feature 3-light small-paned casements with iron opening casements. The left side of the building has a similar 2-light casement window above the entrance. The right side has 3-light casements on the ground floor, one of which has been renewed, and 2-light casements on the first floor. At the rear, there is a gabled wing with an end stack and similar window details, along with a Phoenix fire mark.
The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported to have a fireplace with a bressummer that is reputedly made from the gallows post that once stood nearby.
