Description
This is an early 18th-century farmhouse with attached stables, a tackroom, and a barn. The farmhouse is built of coursed squared limestone and has a steeply pitched roof covered in diminishing courses of stone slate. It has stone ridge and end stacks and is arranged over two floors plus an attic, with a four-window front. Stone coped gables are present. The off-centre entrance on the right has a moulded wood surround, a 20th-century door, a wood lintel, and an overlight, flanked by French doors, with a two-light casement to the left. The first floor has four wood-mullioned and transomed windows, and four gabled roof dormers. The tackroom, dating to the 19th century, is of red brick with a stone slate roof and a brick end stack. It has a wooden doorway with a plank door and wood lintel, and a two-light casement to the left. The stables, dating to the 18th and 19th centuries, are constructed of regular coursed ironstone, limestone rubble, and brick, with a steeply pitched red tile roof. The rear elevation features four stable entrances with moulded wood surrounds and stable doors, plus two gabled loft doorways. The barn, also dating to the 18th century, is of coursed squared limestone with a steeply pitched stone slate roof and a three-bay design, featuring a butt-purlin roof. The interiors of the farmhouse, stables, and tackroom were not inspected.
