Description

The Old Rectory is a mid-17th century rectory that has been converted into a house, with later extensions and alterations. It is constructed of regular coursed limestone rubble and features a steeply pitched red tile roof. The gables are stone-coped with moulded kneelers, and there are renewed brick stacks at the ends. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range in an L-plan layout.

The central entrance includes a hood mould with a label stop, a wide moulded wood door-frame, and a half-glazed door. Flanking the doorway on the left is a three-light stone-mullioned window with a hood mould and label stops, while on the right is a wood-mullioned and transomed window, also with a hood mould and label stops. On the first floor, there is a three-light stone-mullioned window and a two-light stone-mullioned window, both with hood moulds and label stops, along with a wood-mullioned and transomed window to the right that has a wood lintel. The roof features three 20th-century skylights.

To the left of the original structure is a two-storey 19th-century extension made of limestone, with a red tile roof and 20th-century casements that have wood lintels. The rear of the building includes wood-mullioned and transomed windows as well as stone-mullioned windows.

Inside, the property is noted for its four-centred arched stone fireplaces, chamfered beams, and a late 17th-century staircase with turned balusters.
