Description

This is an early 18th-century farmhouse with an attached granary, altered in later periods. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and limestone rubble, with ironstone quoins. The steeply pitched roof is covered in asbestos tiles, with brick ridge and end stacks on stone bases. The farmhouse has two storeys and a five-window front, including two blocked openings, arranged in a three-unit plan. The central entrance has a plank door within a moulded wooden door frame and an overlight with glazing bars, although a 20th-century lean-to porch has been added. To the right are two three-light wooden mullioned windows with glazing bars, and to the left, a blocked window opening and a similar three-light window with an opening light. The first floor mirrors the ground floor, with three windows and two blocked openings. All windows and blocked openings have wooden lintels, some of which are stop-chamfered. An exterior stone staircase leads to the attached granary at the left end. Inside, the farmhouse features stop-chamfered beams, an inglenook fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer and a ham curing chamber. A staircase with a straight flight and a quarter turn is also present.
