Description
Badger's Cottage is a building that originally comprised two cottages, now converted into one house. It dates from the early 18th century and has undergone later extensions and alterations. The structure is made of coursed squared blocks of limestone and features a steeply pitched thatched roof, with brick ridge and end stacks. The building is a single storey plus attic and has a four-window range.
The entrance, located to the left, has a plank door within a wood frame and is sheltered by a thatched canopy porch. To either side of the entrance are 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars. To the left, there is a two-light 20th-century casement, and to the right, there are two additional two-light 20th-century casements. The ground floor windows are topped with stone lintels, and the attic includes four half-dormers.
Inside, the cottage features stop-chamfered bressumers, inglenook fireplaces with bread ovens, and chamfered beams. There is a 20th-century staircase in a circular well, which is said to have originally contained a wood spiral staircase, along with an interior stud partition.
