Description

Lower Farmhouse and attached farm buildings date from the 17th century, with later alterations and a 19th-century wing. The farmhouse features regular coursed limestone banded with ironstone, while the 19th-century wing is made of ashlar ironstone. The roofs are covered with red tiles, and there are brick stacks on stone bases at the ridge and ends. The building is a single storey plus attic and has a total of five windows arranged in an L-plan.

The entrance on the left has a plank and rail door set in a wooden frame with a stop-chamfered wood lintel. The ground floor includes a three-light wooden casement with a wooden lintel, a two-light stone-mullioned window with a hood mould and label stops, a four-light stone-mullioned window also with a hood mould and label stops, and a two-light wood-mullioned window with a wooden lintel. In the attic, there are four three-light wooden casements, including two eaves dormers. The right wing features three-light stone-mullioned windows with hood moulds and label stops.

Attached to the left are stables, now used as outbuildings, constructed from limestone with a tiled roof. These are also single storey plus attic, with an entrance on the left that has a wide plank door, wooden frame, and wooden lintel. The roof has been partly renewed.

Inside the farmhouse, there are stop-chamfered beams and chamfered joists, inglenooks with a stop-chamfered bressumer and moulded chamfered jambs, a ham curing chamber, stone flag floors, and plank doors with strap hinges.
