Description

This chest tomb, dating from 1696, is located approximately 1.5 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St. Michael in Warmington. It is made of carved ironstone and features a moulded plinth and top, along with square corner balusters. The long sides of the tomb have one wide and two narrow fielded panels. On the east side, there is a skull surrounded by a swag and acanthus leaves, while the west side displays a similar panel with a curly-haired head. Additional inscriptions date from 1764 and mention William Claridge from 1812. The tomb is finely carved.
